Cobra Performa Land Mobile Radios

The Performa 400 comes with a preinstalled battery; however, you may need to charge it first. If your radio did not come with the battery already installed:

• Remove the Radio from the holster
• Open the latch on bottom back panel of radio
• Slide the battery pack in

Only use the supplied battery and desktop charger for charging your Cobra Performa radio, or the USB-C cable. Please charge the radio for 8 hours for first time of use. Cobra recommends turning you radios off while charging.

To Charge the Radio Via USB-C Cable

• Ensure battery is properly installed
• Remove cover from USB-C port
• Insert the USB-C cable
• Plug the USB cable into the power adapter
• Plug power adapter into an appropriate power port

Charge Via Dock Chargers (Single or 6-Unit)

• Radio can use the dock chargers with or without the holster
• Ensure battery is properly installed
• Insert radios into dock charger facing the front
• Insert batteries into the spare battery port
• Insert the USB-C cable into the back of the dock
• Plug USB-C cable into the power adapter
• Plug power adapter into an appropriate power port

If the charging light is not on, check the position of the radio. The radio should be upright.

• To power ON turn Power Knob clockwise
• To power OFF turn Power Knob counterclockwise

Performa radios have the ability to clone all set programmed frequencies and radio settings to another Performa radio. To perform a clone from a Primary (programmed) radio to Receiving radios: 

• Have all radios turned off. For Over the Air cloning, skip to Step 3. For Cable Cloning, continue to Step 2.
• Plug in USB-C cable to both Primary and Receiving Radios, or dock chargers. 
• Press and hold the Call Button for 6 seconds, turn power knob on while continuing to hold call button until you hear “Clone Receive Ready”
• Radio is now in Clone Mode, ready to receive Clone information. Clone Icon will illuminate, RX will flash.
• Repeat for the Primary and all Receiving radios.
• For the Primary Radio, press PTT button to start initiate the clone process; Clone icon will illuminate, and TX will flash.
• Primary Radio will send information to all Receiving radios.
• Voice Prompts will confirm successful Clone of Receiving radios and restart.
• Primary Radio will confirm with a “Transmission successful” voice prompt.

• Turn on the radio.
• Set all radios to the same channel and privacy code, if applicable. To change the channel, turn the channel knob clockwise or counterclockwise until you reach your desired channel.
• Press and hold the Push-To-Talk (PTT) button on the side of the radio with the microphone about two inches (5 cm) from your mouth, then speak your message at a conversational level. Release the PPT button when finished and listen for a response.
