Is my hand held marine radio waterproof if I use a speaker/mic?

Unfortunately, it is not.  Once the cap is removed, even if another device is plugged in, the device should not be submerged.  It will remain splashproof and can withstand some extraneous moisture but cannot withstand being submersed.
