Pictured: Cobra Performa 450 LMR. The Performa 400 has no LCD but is otherwise identical to the 450's physical layout. This guide will address the features in common to both radios. KnobsPower & Volume Knob
  • Turn this knob until it clicks to power the radio on, turn freely (clockwise) to increase or reduce the audio volume, turn volume down (counterclockwise) until it clicks to turn off the radio.

Channel Knob
  • Standby Mode Manually switch between channels 1-6.
  • Menu Mode Change settings category, alternative to pressing ENTER, allows backwards movement through settings map.

ButtonsEmergency Alert Button
  • Press this button to alert other users of the network that you need assistance.


Push-to-Talk (PTT) Button
  • Press and hold, speak into the Microphone to communicate with others. As long as you are pressing the PTT Button, you will be unable to hear incoming transmissions.

Up Arrow
  • Standby Mode (Press) Change channels, same as turning the channel knob
  • Standby Mode (Press and Hold) Scan through the channels
  • Menu Mode (Press) Change the options on the current setting

Down Arrow
  • Standby Mode (Tap) Change channels, same as turning the channel knob
  • Standby Mode (Press and Hold) Initiate Monitoring Mode
  • Menu Mode (Tap) Change the options on the current setting

Enter (Menu)
  • Standby Mode (Press and Hold) Switch to Menu Mode
  • Menu Mode (Press) Change to next Setting
  • Menu Mode (Press and Hold) Exit Menu Mode

ESC (Lock)
  • Standby Mode (Press and Hold) Lock the buttons (except the PTT and ESC buttons) and Channel Knob of the radio
  • Menu Mode (Tap) Exit Menu Mode


Call Button
  • Alert other users on the same channel that you'd like them to respond back to you without having to PTT and speak into the microphone.

Other FeaturesLED Indicators
  • Dock LED Solid Red (Radio Docked), Charge Complete (Solid Green), Charging Error (Flashing Red) 
  • Radio LED Flashes Blue every 5 Seconds (standby mode)

Speaker
  • Outputs voice transmissions.

Microphone
  • Hold the body of the radio at least 5cm/2 inches from your mouth, press and hold the Push-To-Talk (PTT) button and speak at a conversational volume. Release the PTT button when you're done transmitting to hear incoming responses.

Headset Jack
  • A 2.5mm port for compatible headsets, see our Accessories Page for more info.
  • The headphone jack uses a 2-port Motorola M1 connection.
  • The 2.5mm port is fully compatible with the Cobra GA-SV01 headset.
  • The radio's VOX feature must be turned on if the headset does not have a built-in Push-To-Talk (PTT) button.

USB-C Port
  • For charging the radio, programming the radio, and for cloning radio to radio.
  • Programming uses a proprietary programming cable, included with the radios. See our Programming Guide.
