The technician may ask you for your firmware version. This is useful information for troubleshooting a wide variety of issues your camera may have. You can access the firmware version either directly on the device in the case of cameras that have a view screen (including the SC400, SC200, SC201), or through the Drive Smarter app. The Drive Smarter app is the only option for the SC100.

Directly on the Device

SC400

  1. Tap the screen. This will bring up a row of 5 icons. If the camera is currently recording, the left-most icon will be a blue square. If you see a red circle, the recording has already been stopped and you can proceed to Step 3.
  2. Tap the blue square to stop the current loop clip. The icons will now change.
  3. Tap the gear icon, second from the right.
  4. On the left edge of the screen is a "<" button. Tap that to go to page 3/3 (displayed at the upper-right.)
  5. Tap on the About button, on the bottom row, in the middle.
  6. Your firmware version is the top line. It will read similar to "COBRA SC-400 V1.23 CHIPSET V042.1"
  7. In this case, the firmware version is V1.23
  8. To exit, simply press the back arrow at the upper-left until you return to the main camera view.
  9. Tap the red circle to begin recording again.

SC200 / SC201

  1. There are four buttons on the bottom of the camera. Each of these buttons will line up with an icon on the bottom of the display.
  2. Tap the button beneath the blue square icon; the square will be replaced by a red circle. If there is a red circle already, proceed to the next step.
  3. Tap the button beneath the three blue lines icon at the left. This will take you into the settings menu.
  4. Tap the button beneath the up arrow.
  5. The blue line on the screen should now be highlighting the word "About".
  6. Press the button beneath the "OK" button.
  7. Your firmware version is on the top line. It will read similar to "COBRA SC-200 V2.16"
  8. In this case, the firmware version is V2.16.
  9. To exit, simply press the button beneath the arrow pointing left until you return to the main camera view.
  10. Tap the red circle to begin recording again.
