Menu Options

NOTE These are the default configurations for radios with all settings enabled. Your administrator may have disabled the radio's ability to adjust some or all of these settings onboard the radio. Please speak to your administrator to change your radio's configuration using our Cobra Programming Software.

Weather NOTE Weather features are available on the Performa 450 only.
  • Weather Mode

    • Only Allows you to pick up NOAA weather in the US and Weatheradio in Canada.

  • Weather Alert
    • Manual Page 10
    • Toggle the radio's ability to interrupt regular usage with NOAA Weather Alerts from local weather stations.

  • Weather Channels

    • There are up to 12 Weather Channels. See manual for a frequency list and table of which channels transmit Weather Alerts.

  • Weather Alert Tone

    • Weather Alert Tones broadcast at 1050 Hz
Voice
  • Voice Activated Transmit (VOX)
    • Manual Page 10
    • Toggle hands-free usage, allowing operators to simply speak normally, or speak a little louder depending on the settings, rather than have to use the PTT.

  • Voice Prompts

    • Toggle whether the radio speaks, telling you what setting or functionality you're currently engaging.
Alerts & Tones
  • VibrAlert®
    • Manual Page 11
    • When another user is transmitting, VibrAlert can vibrate the radio to alert you of incoming transmissions.

  • Call Alert
    • Manual Page 11
    • Press and release the CALL button on the side of the radio to alert others that you are about to transmit. Voice communications only. Choose between 10 total 2-second tones that play on your radio.

  • Emergency Alert
    • Manual Page 12
    • Signal members of your group (regardless of the channel they're tuned to) of your urgent need for help. Switches automatically to hands-free (VOX) for a total of 30 seconds and sends an 8 second warbling alert tone. Other Cobra radios should receive this tone, but other brands may not automatically set themselves to handsfree mode.

  • Keytone Beep

    • Toggles audible tones for button presses.

  • Roger Beep
    • Manual Page 12
    • Transmit an audible tone to listeners when you release the PTT button and clear the channel.
Frequencies, Codes & Backlight
  • Backlight Color

    • Choose between white, blue, and red backlight colors.

  • Default Frequencies

    • Please see the manual for a table of default frequencies and channels.

  • Privacy Codes
    • Manual Page 16
    • Please see the manual for a table of CTCSS and DCS octal codes for privacy. Privacy codes ensure that your radio does not open squelch when users sharing the same channel but not the same privacy code broadcast. Use this feature to set up calling groups, however, be aware that when you broadcast on the channel you are not encrypted and anyone tuned to the primary channel can hear your communications.
Programming & Cloning
  • Radio to Radio Clone
    • Manual Page 13
    • Transfer all set programmed frequencies and radio settings to another Performa radio. The Performa series can clone between models.

  • Advanced Programming Menu

    • Program channels, toggle Voice Call Announcements for every radio cloned to this one, send a Voice Call Announcement, Optional additional entry to Clone mode.

  • Programming Channels

    • Program which channels the radio will use to receive/transmit.
